Podere Il Cocco - Cocco Piccolo

/Cocco/Cocco03.jpg

Podere Il Cocco Three kilometres from Montalcino and surrounded by meadows, vineyards, pine and cypress woods is Il Cocco which has been completely renovated and divided into two spacious, rustic homes. Below in the wine keller the Brunello is stored and the owner, who lives in Siena, has a little refuge for himself. The location is unique, very peaceful with a fantastic view over the Orcia, Arbia and Ombrone valleys. The famous abbey of San Antimo is just 3 km away and walkable. Cocco, a soldier from there, built this house in the 12th Century. There is a small friendly dog here and you can buy home produced wine, olive oil and honey.

There is a small service room shared by both homes. On request a childbed can be made available, there is a swimming pool, table tennis table and bocciabahn (bowling lane) and a barbecue. There is a free internet connection for guests and for 2008 a larger room will be available for entertaining. On request the owners can provide an evening meal.

Distances:

  • Town: 5km
  • Restaurant: 3km

Cocco Piccolo has a comfortable living room with kitchen and dining area, and an open fire and a couch,1.5m wide, which can sleep one adult or two children.
There are two bedrooms with double beds and a bathroom with shower. In front of the house is a seated area with garden furniture.

Montalcino A historic medieval hilltown about 30 minutes from Siena, with a good selection of restaurants, bars and shops. Originally settled by the Etruscans over 200 years ago. Now it is the centre of the Brunello wine trade, it has a small museum and is nearby to the 7th Century Abbey of Sant'Antimo, founded by Charlemagne.

Siena The area around Siena is known as the 'Classic Tuscany'. A gentle land of rolling hills, covered with a patchwork of vineyards, olive groves and fertile fields, scattered with farm houses and noble villas. The country lanes are lined with cypress trees completing the majestic look of a landscape where nature's creation mixes perfectly with man's. Siena, the heart of this region, is considered the most beautiful town in Italy. Its a joy to stroll the narrow streets and alleys, palaces and the Piazza del Campo - where you can sip the local red wine, while taking in the old buildings and medieval palaces.
